Ironman Training Day 1

It feels real good to back training.  Today was good.  Woke up early, 5:30, had my coffee, instant oatmeal and jumped on the trainer.  Rode the bike to warm up for the run, my long run of the week: 3.5 miles.  Which is the longest run I’ve done since my injury.  It included .5 miles of z4 work which felt really good.  I have moved back to my heart rate zones from my last LT test.  It feels like good to be hammering out there on the road again.

After that, drove down to the gym for a leg workout.  Again, it feels so good to be back in the gym.  I’ve been working out with the weights for a few weeks to prepare for the training, so it was natural to do 2×12 for all the exercises.  I’m also focusing on developing my core/lower back on a daily basis.

That’s it for now.  Day 1 is in the books…only 195 days left to Ironman Arizona (IMAZ).
