Ironman Training – Day 2

Written by admin on October 3, 2006 – 11:45 pm -

Early day on the bike. Woke up at 5am to start a 30 mile ride at around 5:30. Since i’m riding inside on the trainer, and using powercranks, it taks longer to get a ride completed. There is no coasting on the cranks, it’s all effort for the full mileage. So since my injury, this was the longest ride i’ve completed. Then i did a quick 1 mile run off the bike. Only 2 minutes at my IM race pace. Felt good, fast. My injury is still bothering me and I have limited extension with my right leg. Need some time to work that out.

Day’s not over yet. I had a 1000 yard drill swim at the pool. I did this during lunch and finished rather quiclkly. I am eager to see what the masters swimming coach has to say about my swimming tomorrow (1st Day at Masters!).  I mean I feel good in the pool, much better than i did 2 years ago.  It’s really a mental sport, and learning to relax while maintaining speed.  So difficult to do for me because I sometimes get anxious in the water.  But I’m working on it.

More to report tomorrow when I get back from Masters.
