14.5 mile run; 11 mile ride
Written by admin on February 1, 2008 – 7:04 am -First workout I’ve pushed to later in the day. It dumped snow on Wednesday night here in Boulder. Probably 4-5 inches in an hour or so. So that made my decision to run early on Thursday not possible. It was so slippery, just walking out the door. There was no way I could do a 2 hour run on this stuff. It was sunny all day, which helped. And by the afternoon, I was able to sneak out and start the run. Ran to the track for a workout, it was covered in snow. I was blazing my own trail, following my footprints each lap to pack down the snow.
1000 z4 – 2:30 rest
200 high z4 – :45 rest
800 z4 – 2:00 rest
200 high z4 – :45 rest
400 z4 – 1:30 rest
200 high z4 – :45
400 high z4
I kept slipping, and avoiding the ice I could see. Still managed to come close to my normal times, but with the 3 layers of clothing and snow, I was definitely struggling. Ran the rest of the mileage in z2 and ran the trails again. I should have run the roads though, because the trail was uneven and i could feel it starting to strain in areas on my legs that normally are pretty stable.
Got in a quick spin on the PowerCranks, legs were close to toast! Still digging the Dropkick Murhphys on the ipod, need to find something new though for this week.

BJ…because I run like a snail…the snow runs are awesome for me…I’m kinda like a snow tortoise….haha…
Just blazed my own 3 miles…carved, I mean etched…OK dragged. 8:40’s…
Can’t wait til tomorrow 43 mile ride outside…
I know this is old, but I have run to a little rusted root in the last few days….maybe that?
