Run, Bike, Swim, Bike
Written by admin on June 12, 2008 – 7:08 am -These days, I feel like I’m reaching to get a solid workout. I prefer a little bit of everything, versus one huge workout of one thing. Today I had a 4 mile run and a 2200 yard swim. I ran first to mix it up, using my updated zones, and it felt more normal in z2. Legs felt great, body was solid. Jess worked on me yesterday after my test. I think that cleared up a few things in the body. Thanks as always Jess.
Since we have one car, and Jess had a massage late in the afternoon, I dusted off the mountain bike and headed down to the East Boulder Rec Center. Almost exactly 2 miles there. The mountain bike feels so big and clunky, and I sit more upright. Swim included a main set of 2x super 500’s. (25, 50, 50, 75, 100, 75, 50, 50, 25) with 30 sec rest in between each. And you keep a cumulative time of the entire set. I’ve been hitting 11 min. and change…but after being rested, or at least I feel rested, I hit a 10:55. Also need to mention this is in an effort in the z4 range. I changed up my goal to achieve z4, not so much of a quick turnover, but more of a power pull, long gliding stroke. I think this is why I was slightly faster.
Biked back home and started making our new favorite homemade pizza - Buffalo tempe! I think Jess will be posting the recipe shortly, but it uses the fresh dough at Whole Foods, and then you add tempe chunks cooked in Cholula only, no butter, with thinly sliced red and green peppers, spinach and small grape tomoatoes. 4 Cheese Mexican Mix cheese or Monteray Jack cheese on top. And of course dipping the crusts in honey at the end. So good.
Tonight is stroke and stride, I’ll be a spectator. I need to dial back some things in order to peak just right next week, and this is one I need to bag. Plenty of more chances to get pummeled and freak out in the swim when we return from Idaho. Good luck tonight Jess! and the rest the of gang.
