Last Big Day of Workouts & Sunday
Written by admin on November 15, 2008 – 9:11 am -Today is Saturday, and I’m about 1 week out from IMAZ. Looking over my workout for today, I have a little bit of everything. A short swim in a few, then a 50 mile bike with a few speed bursts, then off the bike for an 8 miler - 4 miles of which are race pace. Time to get all my gear in order for one last run through. I drop off my bike on Monday for the TriBikeTransport. Today may be my last ride on it till Arizona.
It’s perfect out, a bit on the cooler side, but sunny, as usual. More to recap later on.
Day Recap:
Lack of motivation on Saturday, that pretty much sums it up. On the bike, when did 50 miles seem so easy? I got about 32 done, then was bored, and wanted to head home, but something kept pushing me to ride east and have to bike back home to complete the mileage. Riding out to Lafayette, then home on South Boulder road gave me exactly 50 miles. Well, I got that one in…barely.
Ran off the bike, 2 miles at race pace…right away, I wanted to just stop. Not because i couldn’t physically go on, but because I was bored…disinterested. That rarely happens to me. I love to work out, love the challenge each day brings. But today was different. I guess having a moment like this in a span of 19 weeks is pretty good. Was able to wear the nike lunar’s with no band aids or tape, so that’s all healed up, and they just feel so good on my feet.
Sunday:
Swam my last big swim. and after ditching my swim on Saturday because of shoulder pain, today was a little better. I have some a long, long way in the water since CDA, but still have ways to go. But mentally I’m in a good spot for this race in regards to the swim. I’ve done about all I could have to prepare this time around.
Just tallied up my training log numbers for this build up to IMAZ 09. It’s a treat to see these numbers, I have been waiting till the week of the race to actually break them down. It gives me that added boost to see what I’ve accomplished. I won’t reveal the numbers here, but you can bet that they are far ahead of IMAZ 07, and up slightly over CDA 08. I think I trained 30 weeks leading up to CDA, but only 20 weeks leading up IMAZ.
Now it’s time to rest up for real this week, keep the engine running, and stay hydrated as well as nail my nutrition every day.
