Tri for your Cause
Written by admin on June 8, 2009 – 4:57 pm -Back to the blog world, this should be fun. Let’s see, what’s gone on in the past week or so. Highlight was this past Saturday, where Jess and I raced our first tri’s together. A sprint triathlon at the Boulder Rez, pretty much the same course as the 5430 Sprint race Jess is doing in a few weeks. Perfect morning. Raced hard, and finished 5th overall and won my age group. Jess ended up winning her age group too, she was so happy and surprised when i told her. I like to bear good news.
Before that, on Thursday, I raced in the first Stroke n Stride event of the season. Every Thursday I plan to do these races, or at least 6, that’s what I signed up for. It’s great experience for swimming in groups, and getting smacked around at the start. 1 year ago I raced this event, and swam 30:40. This year, I swam a 27:45, I’ll take 3 mins. But can’t stop there, i have a lot more time to cut off. Big expectations for my swim. But need to start somewhere.
Training has otherwise been ok, nothing too stressing. With a bunch of races, it’s not easy to get into the groove like you do when you train for 6 months for one event (Ironman).
Next race is Loveland in 2 weeks. Can’t wait for the post race buffet…it’s the best!
