Great Weekend – Mt Evans Hill Climb
Written by admin on June 15, 2009 – 4:51 pm -Saturday I was able to get it all in. Met up with Tim at Fairview track for a test session. For me, 8 something min miles, for Tim, quite a bit faster. Just looks so smooth and comfortable running at sub-6 min/mile pace. But I needed to scale back some, and will for a few weeks. Build back up the base. Big picture, got a little side tracked with these smaller races. Need a reminder.
Swam at Scott Carpenter at 11:30, and felt pretty good. Finally able to do my main sets with flip turns, but alot has to do with the outdoor pool, love it. Biked down to the pool and back home. With the weather changing for the worse each afternoon, I rode the trainer for a bit at a low intensity…again, building back that base. Off to a wedding celebration at a park in Boulder, Jess and I took the bus, had an awesome time. Very tired though. I forgot to take a snapshot of the attire Jess was sporting, but it was smokin’, and stylish at the same time.
Sunday got up early and met the Echelon boys in Idaho Springs to climb Mt. Evans. Never done that before, it was awesome. But dam cold on the way down…frostbite, definite possibility. Great ride though, think i’m gonna race it next month.
This morning, Monday, ran long. 1:45, all low zone work. Takes control to stick with this plan Tim says, but payoff could be good. I’m betting it does. My best runs last year came after large amounts of base work.
