Rez run today – race pace
Written by admin on July 5, 2009 – 12:57 pm -Out to the rez early this morning. I’ve been meaning to run the 5430 course loop, but with other priorities and setbacks, just haven’t found the time. But got it done today. First somewhat speed work since Loveland Lake to Lake, and before that i hadn’t done speed in 2 weeks. So all in all, i’ve run hard 2 times in the past 6 weeks. Felt so good to get into that rhythm, push the hills, recover, adjust speed. Warmed up, then ran 3×2 miles at race pace (1/2 ironman race pace that is). Since I’ve only completed 2 1/2 ironmans in my life, Vineman in 2005, and Timberman in 2007, i don’t have much experience to pull from. I crashed an burned at Vineman, and barely hung on at Timberman, limping with a slight hamstring strain to the finish.
Today was solid. Longest run in a few weesk. Strapped on the camelbak and had constant supply of water, so no need to stop. Took in nutrition, feels just like old days. Now, if i can manage to sneak to the pool today for a short swim i’ll be extremely grateful to the fitness gods.
And oh yeah, planted 2 trees today – one was a re-plant, had to move this stick in our front yard to the back, and then replace with an Autumn Flame Maple. Should look sweet in 5-10 years!
